Assessing the Need for a Comprehensive Social Security Scheme for India’s Below Poverty Line Population (Dataset)

The data was collected from 771 Below Poverty Line (BPL) households in Fatehpur and Siddharthnagar districts of Uttar Pradesh. I have also attached the questionnaire that was used to collect the data. The questionnaire is fairly comprehensive and includes sections on household demographics, household perception of financial situation, asset, income, expenditures, access to savings, loans and insurance and how households view formal and government institutions. The main purpose of the study was to understand the willingness to contribute to a new social security scheme proposed by the Ministry of Finance.
